The Transcript of Records is an official document issued by universities that provides a summary of a student’s university studies. Its purpose is to offer a clear and detailed overview of the courses taken, grades obtained, associated credits, and the years or semesters in which the studies were completed.
Although the concept remains the same, the name of the document may vary by region. In Latin America, it is known as a Récord de Notas, or Certificado de Notas, while in Spain it is referred to as a Certificado Académico Personal (CAP).
For the Transcript of Records to be officially valid, it must be signed and sealed by the issuing university. Digital signatures are not valid unless they are legal electronic signatures that include a URL and/or verification code. Otherwise, the certificate must be signed by hand.
How to request the Transcript of Records?
Students must follow the procedures established by their university to request the Transcript of Records. In most cases, it can be requested through the university’s management platform or at the corresponding academic offices. Note that this process typically involves an associated cost, so it is advisable to check the fees before submitting the request.
